Agreement

These terms govern your use of Dr. Oskar (dr-oskar.com), which is operated by Hunter Design Co. LLC (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Dr. Oskar, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Dr. Oskar on behalf of an institution, you confirm that you’re authorized to accept these terms for it.

What Dr. Oskar is

Dr. Oskar helps researchers find human brain tissue samples held by brain banks and prepare requests for them. It is an early-stage product. Features may change, break or be removed, and we may limit or end early access at any time.

Your account

You must be at least 18 and use Dr. Oskar for research, teaching or related work. Give us accurate information, keep your password secure, and don’t share your account. You’re responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.

AI-generated answers

Dr. Oskar uses AI to answer questions and suggest samples. Its answers can be incomplete or wrong, and sample details come from brain bank records that may be out of date. Check anything important with the bank or the original source before you rely on it.

Dr. Oskar does not give medical advice, and a sample appearing in Dr. Oskar does not mean it is available or that a bank will approve your request.

Tissue requests

Dr. Oskar helps you prepare and send requests, but each brain bank decides whether to fulfill them under its own policies. Any agreement to provide tissue, such as a material transfer agreement, is between you or your institution and the bank. We are not a party to it.

You’re responsible for the accuracy of what you submit, including your identity, institution and IRB status, and for getting the approvals your research needs.

Acceptable use

When you use Dr. Oskar, don’t:

• Try to identify, contact or learn more about tissue donors or their families.
• Submit information you don’t have the right to share, such as identifiable patient information.
• Misrepresent who you are, your institution or your approvals.
• Access other people’s accounts or data, or parts of Dr. Oskar you aren’t given access to.
• Copy sample data in bulk, scrape Dr. Oskar, or use automated means to access it without our permission.
• Interfere with Dr. Oskar’s operation, probe it for vulnerabilities without our permission, or reverse engineer it.
• Break the law or the terms that apply to brain bank data.

Your content

You own the questions, request details and other content you submit. You give us permission to store, process and use that content to run and improve Dr. Oskar, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you send us feedback, we may use it without any obligation to you.

Our content

Dr. Oskar’s software, design, name and branding belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use Dr. Oskar for your research under these terms. Sample data belongs to the brain banks that publish it, and their terms also apply to it.

Ending your use

You can stop using Dr. Oskar at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing privacy@dr-oskar.com. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if we end early access. The sections on your content, disclaimers and limits of liability continue to apply after that.

Disclaimers

Dr. Oskar is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that Dr. Oskar will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Limits of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or research time, arising from your use of Dr. Oskar. Our total liability for any claim relating to Dr. Oskar is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100.

Changes to these terms

We’ll post changes here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use Dr. Oskar after a change means you accept the new terms.
